Darjeeling, the Queen of Hills, to welcome tourists from July 1
With the easing of Covid restrictions and the Unlock 1 phase in place, one of India’s most popular tourist destinations, Darjeeling, is all geared up to welcome tourists from July 1. Known as the Queen of Hills, the hill town will be open to visitors after three months of lockdown.
As per reports, Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) the autonomous administrative body here has formed a committee including political parties, hotel owners, police and district administration. The committee decided to reopen hotels for tourism to revive the economy.
The entry of tourists will strictly be based on Covid protocols put forward by the central government.
The tourists have to produce fitness certificate. Screening will be done at two separate points before finally reaching the town of Darjeeling. All the hotels have been asked to be ready with the screening machinery at their entrance gate.
Darjeeling which mainly thrives on tourism, is famous for its tea estates.
