Sreekantapuram: With the monsoon gearing up for the next spell in Kerala, visitors have started to flock to Alakapuri waterfalls near Kanjirakolli in Kannur district. Kanjirakolli offers a more eye-catching picture amid monsoon rain and mist.
The renovation works done last year has given due importance to the safety of the visitors. Hand rails and fencings have been put in place throughout the way towards the waterfall. Small bridge has been constructed to cross from one side of the waterfalls to other. Stones steps are also constructed to help visitors to descend to water.
The forest department had taken up renovation works worth Rs 25 lakh at Alakapuri and Sasippara. More than 100 persons can enjoy the beauty of the waterfalls at a time. The peak season at Kanjirakolli is from June to December.
Entry up to 4 pm
The entry to the waterfalls is from 9 am to 4 pm. The cost of tickets is Rs 20 for adults and Rs 10 for children. Those visitors arriving at Kanjirakolli are provided insurance cover by the forest department.
