Cycling around the world; Faizal awaits end of Covid pandemic to resume his trip
Faizal Ahammad was living his dreams in one of the most beautiful townships of India, Manali in August last year. He was gearing up for around the world cycling trip. However, Covid pandemic had other plans.
Now, Faizal is running a bike accessories shop with his friends in Wayanad.
It was on February 1, Puthankunnu native Faizal set out on a cycling trip around the world. Batheri to Singapore, covering 9 countries was his plan. He reached Delhi by bicycle. On the way, he met with an accident and injured his knee. He decided to rest for a week in Delhi and then resume the trip.
But Covid struck by then and lockdown was imposed.
Faizal stayed with his friend in Delhi for three months in the hope the pandemic will end soon and can resume the trip. As this became impossible, he handed over the bicycle to his friend and boarded the train to Kerala in July.
Last year, from March 1 to May 15, Faizal and his friend Muhammad Riyas were on an India trip on bullet. They also travelled to Bhutan and Nepal. After two months, in August Faizal took up the solo trip to Manali on an RX 100 bike.
He hopes to take back the bicycle from Delhi and complete his dream once Covid abates.
