Fort Kochi: A total of 207 foreign tourists including 50 women will be going to Rajasthan desert and then to Shillong mountain range in 120 auto rickshaws from Fort Kochi coast. Most of them were travelling in auto for the first time. But within a few days they learnt to drive autos with the help of auto drivers in Kochi.
An organisation called ‘Adventure Sports’ arranged this ‘Rickshaw Run’ adventure ride for the foreign tourists. First they will go to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan and then go to Shillong travelling about 4000 km in total.
Tourists from Germany, America, France and Italy are participating in the ride. They are directed to take the path of their choice. They would be taking rest at the place where they reach by nightfall.
The organizers of the ride said that they plan to complete the journey within 20 days. This is the 16th ride starting from Kochi. When the ride is complete, the tourists will return to their countries from there. Another team of tourists will come back from Shillong to Kochi in the same auto rickshaws.
The auto ride was flagged off by Tourism Promoters Association President Adv. Antony Kureethara on Monday morning. the rally is conducted with the cooperation of the association. The organisers said that the money collected through the programme will be utilised for charity.
