Chennai: The southern railway released ‘Rail Partner’ app to facilitate passengers with all necessary information about train journey.

Southern railway general manager RK Kulshrestha said that the train time table and related information would  be available in the app. He inaugurated the app. The facility to contact 20 helplines including RPF, railway police, e-catering, vigilance, child helpline and vanitha helpline from the app have been enabled.

It also lists contact numbers of major railway stations. The details of facilities for passengers, reservation centre details, mobile ticketing, luggage, parcel and tourist service are available in the app.

Chief passenger marketing manager J Vinayan said that the app is user-friendly. The app also provides details of the suburban trains in Chennai. He also added that the app has been developed with an aim to make the passengers directly contact the Railways without depending on TV or social media platforms.

There are many private apps available to provide the necessary details of train travel. But all details may not be right. The new app aims to bring right and timely details and updates to the users.
