Malayali online taxi service ‘PIU’ to challenge Uber, Ola
Kochi: Making all Keralites proud, a Malayali venture is going to be launched in the online auto-taxi sector. The company Mindmaster Technology has initiated a unified platform ‘PIU’ for the unorganised auto and car taxi sector. Ashok George Jacob, G. P. Ramesh and Sivadasan Nair are the master brains behind the venture.
The application functions based on GPS service. While other online taxi services charge 26 percent commission from the drivers, PIU levies no commission but only charges a subscription fee. Annual subscription fee amounts to Rs 19,200.
If a passenger who downloads PIU app recommends it to five other persons and they download the app and took at least one ride, the first passenger will become a golden customer. A golden customer who takes at least four rides a month will be eligible for RPS (Ride Profit Share) scheme, which gives a chance to earn financial benefits.
Those who use PIU app need not pay any surcharges. The app will start functioning in Kannur, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram this month. Within six months of starting the service, about 800 people will get employment.
Wallet facility also has been provided. Recharge can be used in the wallet and other offers also are available. In the initial phase, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are focused. Later, the service will be launched in ten other states including Maharashtra.
