Class 8 girls develop technology for 2-wheelers to start only with helmets
Payyanur: Two girls have developed a technology that enables two wheelers to start only if the riders wear helmets.
The interesting technology was developed by P. Neha and P. Rasika, Class 8 students of Payyanur St. Mary’s Girls High School.
The girls presented their invention in Codeavour 2020, an online Artificial Intelligence and Coding competition for students in which around 5,000 participants from 99 countries took part. Neha and Rasika’s project won the competition in the ‘Girls in Stem’ segment from India.
Neha and Rasika introduced a project named ‘helmet detector’ which warns riders if they do not wear one and allows the two wheeler to start only if the riders are wearing helmets.
Neha is the daughter of Payyanur Thayineri native N. K. Suresh and wife Sujatha. Rasika is the daughter of Kunhimangalam native Sudheer and wife Sandhya.
