Kerala police reserves 146 posts for sportspersons
Thiruvananthapuram: Among the existing havildar posts in various armed battalions of Kerala police, 146 posts have been reserved for various sports items. It is for the first time that Kerala police appointed such a large number of sportspersons at a time.
A total of 58 sports stars were appointed in Kerala police after this government came into power. In the women’s volleyball section, steps to appoint four sports personals is progressing, said minister EP Jayarajan.
This present government has given appointments to 72 sportspersons who won individual medals in national games. 23 were appointed in electricity department.
Indian football player CK Vineeth, volleyball player CK Ratheesh, Kabaddi player PK Rajimol, Special Olympic participant PK Shybhan also were appointed. The government has also decided to give jobs to 11 unemployed players who won the Santhosh Trophy.
In a year, 50 sportspersons are appointed through sports quota. The appointment procedures will be completed within two months after completing the certificate verification of sports quota appointments from 2010 to 2017. The steps to invite applications for sports quota appointments from 2015 to 2017 is progressing, said the sports minister.
Government has decided in the norms to reserve one percent of PSC appointments for sportspersons. The appointments will be staged through special recruitment. The sports minister said that they are aiming to develop better sports stars by improving the basic amenities in the sports sector.
