Kochi: Following the disappointing performance in the Indian Super League (ISL) season 5, Kerala Blasters is going to let their senior players go, says reports. It is indicated that captain Sandesh Jhingan, C. K. Vineeth, Halicharan Narzary, Anas Edathodika and others are going to play for other teams.
These players will be playing with other teams on lease basis, it is learnt. Vineeth and Halicharan Narzary will go to Chennaiyin FC whereas Anas Edathodika will be playing for Pune City and captain Sandesh Jhingan with ATK. There are reports that the players are handed over to other teams as part of curbing expenses following the poor performance.
Earlier, national media had reported that the players will be handed over in the transfer window in January. The fans also had expressed dissatisfaction over the poor performance of the team in the season. Following this, there was a huge decline in the number of audience in Kochi stadium.
Sandesh Jhingan has been playing for Blasters for 5 years in a row. Though ATK had approached him with an attractive offer last season, he decided to stay with Blasters. Anas also has been compelled to leave Blasters even before completing a season with the team.
