Kerala Santosh trophy winner MO Jose no more

Chalakudy: MO Jose, former captain of Kerala team that won the 1972 Santosh Trophy, passed away here on Wednesday. He was 77.

Jose, a versatile defender, is often remembered for his perfect tackles during his career. Apart from being part of the Kerala team, Jose represented India in the U19 category and played in Hong Kong, Seoul and Iran.

TK Chathunny, former International footballer, said that Jose was a player who was widely respected by everyone for his unique style of play and attitude.

He also captained the FACT football team and played for Calicut University and Indian University teams. He retired as an administrative manager from the Kochi office of FACT.

He is survived by wife, Rosily. Children: Antony Jose and Manju Biju. The funeral will be held at 3:30 pm on Thursday.
