Earlier, it was announced that Pappachan will receive the president’s police medal for his distinguished service. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the award function was postponed.

DGP Anil Kanth will hand over the medal to Pappachan at a function at the Thycaud Police Training College on Tuesday.

Four more retirees from the force are also receiving the award. All of them won medals in 2019 and 2020. Pappachan said that the recognition given to policemen when they receive the President's Medal is like the Arjuna Award for players and that it is a great achievement to receive a medal wearing the uniform.
