Kochi: Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has written to Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) to allow cricket in Kaloor International Stadium. The letter stated to resolve the issue after holding talks with ISL team Kerala Blasters. KCA also hinted at possible legal actions if the stadium is not handed over to cricket.
KCA said that stadium has suffered damages after it was handed over to Kerala Blasters and that these damages should immediately be fixed. Kaloor stadium is currently the home ground of Kerala Blasters.
KCA has a 30- year contract with GCDA to use Kaloor stadium. They had also handed over Rs 1 crore as investment. KCA warned that if the stadium is not handed over, they would have to approach the court. GCDA reportedly is in support of KCA’s demands.
However, Kerala Blasters maintained that allowing cricket in Kochi stadium would affect the football matches played there. Meanwhile, Blasters is planning to shift some of their matches to EMS stadium in Kozhikode.
