Kannur: Kerala Blasters player Sahal Abdul Samad will auction his Indian team jersey in order to help the COVID-19 prevention activities. He will be donating the money that he collects from the auction to Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.
Sahal will auction the jersey that he wore for India during the World Cup qualifiers. The auction will be organized by DYFI Payyannur block committee. The auction will be completed on June 22 via social media platforms including Facebook. The amount has already crossed Rs 2 lakh in the auction that began a week earlier.
Sahal, a native of Payyannur, was the recipient of AIFF Emerging Player award for the year 2019. He has been labelled as the next big thing in Indian football by national team captain Sunil Chhetri.
Earlier, footballer Anas Edathodika had also auctioned his jersey to collect money for CMDRF. He auctioned his No. 22 jersey, in which he represented India for the first time. He was able to collect Rs 1,55,555 through the auction.
