Kozhikode: Sportspersons and organisers are struggling as Indian Railways is yet to reinstate the travel concession that was stopped during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The athletes were required to pay only 25 per cent of the ticket charge earlier. Since the last two years reported only a few contests, the organisers were not affected. But as the tournaments have returned, they are struggling to meet the expenses.
Recognised organisations receive support from the state sports council. The payment, however, won't come until after the event, so the organisers and athletes will have to spend money from their own pockets.
Sports council president Mercykuttan said he would bring the matter to the attention of the sports minister.
Kerala Olympic Association president Sunilkumar said Railways was already informed about it.
