Alan, Thaha endorsed Maoist ideologies while working for CPM:P Mohanan
Kozhikode: Kozhikode district secretary P Mohanan on Thursday said that the CPM has not withdrawn from its stance in the Pantheerankavu UAPA case. He pointed out that Alan and Thaha had been associated with Maoist ideologies even while working for CPM. His remark comes in the wake of a Supreme Court order which granted bail to Thaha. The court also dismissed NIA's plea seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Alan Shuhaib who was booked in the same case.
P Mohanan asserted that the party still adhere to the stand taken earlier in the case while responding to the criticism over the matter at the CPM Kozhikode South Area Conference.
Earlier, questions were raised over the party's stand on the Pantheerankavu UAPA case at a conference in the local area which involved branches in which Alan and Thaha were members. In the conference, several members criticised the party's decision which took after believing the reports of police.
Earlier, P Mohanan had indirectly criticized the police over lapses in handling the case while addressing a press conference held at Kozhikode Press Club. However, he retracted his statement after Chief Minister sought an explanation from him.
