Kozhikode: Defending champions Kerala began their Santosh Trophy National Football Championship by thrashing Rajasthan 7-0 at EMS Stadium on Monday.
Kerala took the lead through Nijo Gilbert in the 6th minute, followed by a double strike from Viknesh in the 12th and 19th minutes of the match. Kerala went 5-0 at the end of halftime, thanks to Naresh Riswan's strikes in the 22nd and 35th minutes.
In the second half, Rizwan scored the sixth goal of the match in the 54th minute. Minutes later, Rizwan made it 7-0 to take Kerala to the top of the table. Kerala will next face Bihar on December 29.
