Panaji: A blistering second half performance in the Indian Super League (ISL) was not enough as Kerala Blaster FC lost to FC Goa 2-3 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Saturday.
The Gaurs are back on top of the ISL table with the win. They have 27 points from 14 games. Meanwhile, the men in yellow are 8th with 14 points from the same number of games.
First half goals from Hugo Boumous (26th) and Jackichand Singh (45th) had given Goa a 2-0 lead at half time. Such was their dominance that Kerala could not even register a shot on target after 47 minutes of play.
However, Kerala came out all guns blazing in the second half and Messi Bouli halved the deficit in the 53rd minute. The visitors pinned back the home team for extended periods and Bartholomew Ogbeche equalised in the 69th minute.
However, Hugo Boumous scored his second goal of the night from a brilliant half volley in the 83rd minute to put Goa back in the lead.
