I- League club Gokulam Kerala pips Kerala Blasters in stadium attendance

After securing a victory in its opening match against Kolkata, Blasters’ season has remained underwhelming so far. Meanwhile, Gokulam Kerala opened their I- league season with an exciting win against Neroca FC.

Kochi: I- League club Gokulam Kerala FC has overtaken ISL club Kerala Blasters FC in terms of stadium attendance. Gokulam’s opening I- league match held at Kozhikode corporation stadium on Saturday was attended by 31,181 people while the Kerala Blasters match on Sunday was attended by only 21,157 people. Gokulam Kerala defeated Neroca FC on Saturday while Blasters were held to a draw by FC Goa.

The Blasters camp can argue that it was the opening match of I- League season and that is why Kozhikode corporation stadium saw such a huge turnout. But it has to be kept in mind that ISL is a much bigger league than I- league and is promoted on a larger scale.

After securing a victory in its opening match against Kolkata, Blasters season has remained underwhelming so far. Although Kerala were enjoying a comfortable lead until the 90th minute of the match against Goa, an injury time goal by the visitors extended the winless streak of the Kochi team.
