Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian cricket team has arrived here from Hyderabad to take part in the T20 match against South Africa. The team landed in Kerala capital at around 4.30 pm on Monday.
The team members were received at the airport by Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) officials and were accommodated at Raviz Hotel in Kovalam. Fans, who gathered at the airport, were seen chanting slogans in praise of Malayali cricketer Sanju Samson among others.
The team will begin their practice sessions on Tuesday after taking rest for the day. The match is scheduled to be held on September 8 at Greenfield Stadium. It will be managed by Kerala cricket team former captain K N Ananthapadmanabhan, a native of Thiruvananthapuram and Nitin Menon.
It will mark the first international cricket match in the state in three years.
The second T20 match is scheduled to be held at Dr Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium in Assam on October 2 and the final match will take place at Holkar Stadium in Indore.
Bhuvaneswar Kumar, who played in the Australian series, will not be playing against South Africa. Also, Muhammed Shami, who tested Covid positive, is not likely to be a part of the team. They have been replaced by youngsters Arshdeep Singh and Umesh Yadav.
