Sanju to lead Board President's XI against Sri Lanka
Kolkata: Kerala cricketer Sanju V Samson will lead the Board President's XI in the two-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka at the Jadhavpur University 2nd campus ground here on November 11 and 12.
Apart from Sanju, Kerala players Rohan Prem and Sandeep Warrier along with Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Jalaj Saxena, who represents Kerala for the last two seasons, are included in the squad.
When the BCCI made the team announcement on October 23, Madhya Pradesh wicket-keeper batsman Naman Ojha was named the skipper. However, Ojha suffred an injury and was replaced by Sanju as captain.
“Extremely happy for the opportunity to lead the Board President’s XI. I’ve been given the role of a wicketkeeper batsman and captain and I hope the match to be any exciting one. Some players of my home state too are part of the squad and I hope they will showcase their best performance,” Sanju told Mathrubhumi News before leaving for Kolkata.
The players have been picked from Kerala, Hyderabad, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab as these states will not be playing the fifth round of Ranji Trophy scheduled for second week of November.
