Ranji Trophy: Kerala lead Hyderabad by 133 runs after 71 overs

After 71 overs in the second innings, Kerala have scored 197/6. Rohan Prem and Vishnu Vinod scored 44 runs each. For Hyderabad, Md Siraj and Mehdi Hasan took two wickets each.

Hyderabad: Kerala clawed their way back to a 133 run lead against hosts Hyderabad on the third day of Ranji Trophy cricket tournament here on Sunday.

After 71 overs in the second innings, Kerala have scored 197/6. Rohan Prem and Vishnu Vinod scored 44 runs each. For Hyderabad, Md Siraj and Mehdi Hasan took two wickets each.

Hyderabad had scored 228 runs against Kerala’s first innings score of 164. Almost half of the runs scored by Hyderabad came from Sumanth Kolla who scored 111 runs from 184 balls for his maiden first class century. Kolla was not out but did not get any support from others.

Besides Kolla, only Ravi Teja (32 from 44), Saaketh (27 from 71), Md Siraj (12 from 26) and J Mallikarjun (12 from 66) scored two digit scores. Four Hyderabad batsmen returned with single digit scores while two failed to open their account.

For Kerala, Sandeep Warrier took five wickets. Basil Thampi took three wickets while Akshay Chandran claimed two wickets.

Earlier, Akshay Chandran’s resistance (31 from 49) helped Kerala put up a decent score. For Hyderabad, Md Siraj and Ravi Kiran claimed four wickets each.
