Ranji: Kerala reach 223-4 vs Hyderabad
Bhubaneshwar: Riding on the half-centuries of Jalaj Saxena and Sachin Baby and solid partnerships at the top order, Kerala reached 223-4 against Hyderabad in their third Ranji Trophy Group C match at KIIT Cricket Stadium here on Thursday.
At stumps, Jalaj Saxena (58) and Sachin Baby (51) are at the crease.
Kerala captain Rohan Prem, who won the toss for the first time this season, opted batting.
However, Kerala got off to a disappointing start losing seasoned opener V A Jagadeesh (5) in the fourth over when as many runs were in the scoreboard. He was caught by wicket keeper Sumanth Kolla off C V Milind.
However, Bhavin Thakkar and Rohan Prem held the innings adding 75 runs for the second wicket.
When his individual score reached 38, Bhavin’s stumps were rattled by Akash Bhandari. Rohan continued his fight in company of Sanju V Samson (15). At 107, Sanju (15) lost his stump to Ravi Kiran. When two more runs were added to the scorecard, Rohan (41) too returned to pavilion, stumped by Sumanth Kolla off Mehdi Hasan at the 57th over.
Sachin Baby and Jalaj Saxena batted out 33 overs forging a 114-run unbroken stand for the fifth wicket.
Hyderabad bowlers C V Milind, Akash Bhandari, Ravi Kiran and Mehdi Hasan bagged one wicket each.
