Ranji: Batting collapse costs Kerala ‘Eden test’ vs Himachal
Kolkata: A batting collapse in the second innings cost Kerala their Ranji Trophy Group C match against Himachal Pradesh at Eden Gardens here on Saturday.
Chasing 103 for victory, Himachal reached the target at the loss of four wickets. With this win, they also secured 6 points.
Kerala, which hold an upper hand on the second day, conceded a first innings lead of 13 runs. Resuming batting at 198-8, Himachal added 63 runs on the third day taking their score to 261 runs.
In the second innings, Kerala suffered a batting collapse and were bundle out for paltry 115 runs in 44.5 overs. Five batsmen returned to pavilion for single-digit scores. Captain Rohan Prem and seamer Basil Thampi topped the batting chart scoring 20 each. G K Singh wreak havoc with ball claiming 5-37 in 15.5 overs. M J Dagar provided him ample support taking 3-25.
In the chase, Himachal lost Bains for 0 in the second ball. However, they sailed home by 6 wickets in 25 overs.
