Ranji: 3 points for Kerala as game against Haryana ends in draw
Jaipur: Kerala's wait for the first victory of the ongoing Ranji season continues.
Though Kerala gained an upperhand against Haryana on the penutimate day, stiff resistance from opener N R Saini on the final day saw the game ending in a draw at Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Tuesday.
Kerala, however, managed to bag three points, courtesy a 101-run first innings lead.
This was the fifth match for both teams in Group C. While Haryana is leading the points table with 16 points, Kerala is at 5th slot gathering 12 points.
Resuming the final day’s play at 6-0, Haryana lost first wicket in the form of Rohilla (11) when the team score reached 51. At 70, Bishnoi (4) too departed but opener at the other end, wicketkeeper bastman N R Saini was in no mood to surrender.
Together with Rajat Paliwal (75), he added 145 runs in 43.5 overs for the third wicket. Further M S Hooda gave him support in the middle striking 50 off 82 balls. Both added 100 runs for the fourth wicket taking the total to 315 when both captains agreed to bring the contest to a closure.
Saini remained unbeaten on 152 off 272 balls hitting 17 fours.
