Kerala register 1st victory of Ranji season; Rohan praises youngsters' effort
Cuttack: Kerala registered their first victory of the ongoing Ranji season beating Tripura by 7 wickets at Barabati Stadium here on Friday.
Chasing 183, Kerala had ended the third day’s play at 117-0.
On the final day, sailed home comfortably in 51.4 overs at the loss of three wickets.
When the score reached 151, Kerala lost first wicket in the form of Mohammed Azharuddeen, who was dismissed for 99.
When three more runs were added to the total, his co-opener Bhavin Thakkar too returned to pavilion for 47.
Jalaj Saxena, who made 5, became left-arm spinner Gurinder Singh’s third victim of the morning.
However, Salman Nizar (15) and Sachin Baby (9) completed the proceedings.
After conceding a 20-run first innings deficit, Kerala bundled out Tripura for 162 in the second innings.
Kerala now has 22 points from 8 matches and are sitting at fourth place in Group C.
