Thiruvananthapuram: JK Malabar Tigers came out victorious in the 9th edition of Navio Veterans' Premier League (VPL) organised by the Veterans’ and Cricketers Association of Kerala (VCAK), a fraternity of former state cricketers.
In the final, Malabar Tigers beat Malabar Warriors by six wickets to win VPL 2022 title. After winning the toss, Malabar Warrior elected to bat first and set a score of 128/7 in 15 overs. Biju Thomas scored 58 off 40 balls, and Vinan G Nair picked up 4/23 for the tigers. Meantime, 56 off 31 balls from Arun A V, with a man of the match performance, helped Malabar Tigers chase the score set by Warriors in just 13.5 overs.
Brief Score: Malabar Warriors 128/7 in 15 overs (Biju Thomas 58(40), Vinan G Nair 4/23) lost to JK Malabar Tigers 130/4 in 13.5 overs (Arun A V 56(31), Sasikumar 2/25).
Six teams from across the state participated in NAVIO VPL 2022.
The six teams that participated in the league were Absolute Sobers, Travancore Panthers, JK Malabar Tigers, Malabar Warriors, Kochi Royals & Dukes of Kerala. Last year, JK Malabar Tigers won the title.
