Sydney: At the end of innings, Australia has posted 288 for 5 in the first of the three-match One Day International (ODI) at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) here on Saturday.
Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb made half centuries for the team to climb up to the score of 288.
Australia skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and had opted to bat against India.
For Australia, left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff made his ODI debut, while right-arm pacer Peter Siddle made a return to the team in 50-over cricket since November 2010.
On the other hand, Indian skipper Virat Kohli opted for the two spinners with chinaman Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, who is coming back in the side, alongwith three pacers.
