Nadiad: Kerala was crowned champions in the 64th National Senior Girls School Athletics Meet here on Tuesday. With 104 points, Kerala was miles ahead of second placed Tamil Nadu (54 points) and third placed Delhi (41).
On the last day of the meet, Kerala claimed two gold and three silver medals to take its tally to six gold, seven silver and two bronze medals.
On the last day, Sandra Babu claimed gold in triple jump while Merin Biju won the silver. Soon after, Kerala’s team that included G Reshma, Theresa Mathew, Soorya Mol and Riyamol Joy won gold in the 4x400 meters relay.
However, in the 200 meters sprint, Ancy Johnson, who was Kerala’s gold medal hope, had to settle for silver. Delna Philip claimed silver in 400 meters hurdles.
Earlier on Monday, Kerala girls dominated the CAG sports complex track in Nadiad claiming three gold, one silver and two bronze medals in seven final events.
