CM to inaugurate School Arts Festival soon
Thiruvananthapuram: The capital city will switch over to a festive mood for the next one-week period with the 56th State School Arts Festival beginning on Tuesday. DGP Senkumar flagged off the procession in connection with the inaugural function.
The arrangements at all the venues have been completed. Also the food court has started functioning.
The gold cup for winners was given a rousing reception here on Monday.
The registration of the participants began at the Thycaud Govt Model School on Tuesday morning. Separate counters have been set up for each district.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will officially inaugurate the event at the main venue in Putharikandam maidan. Cine director Jayaraj will be the chief guest of the function.
Nearly 12,000 students will compete in 232 events held across 19 venues.
Mohiniyattom completion of high school students will be held in the main venue after the inaugural function.
A fresh panel of the judges has been prepared by excluding those who judged the events in the last three years. In the wake of allegations of bribery and corruption, they will be monitored by the Vigilance.
The festival has been envisaged as a plastic-free event. Initiatives to bring down the number of appeals have also been taken.
