September 30 is commemorated as International Translation Day to pay tribute to the work of language professionals, who open up a new world of words that is liberating and exhilarating at the same time. It is the discovery of an unknown continent that reverberates with the heat and odour of life. Translation day is in many ways a celebration of multilingualism and an acknowledgement of multiculturalism. It is the day to highlight the seminal contributions of all the translators who have made this world more beautiful.
