Kerala Blasters leading Mumbai City 1-0 at half time
Kerala Blasters FC were leading Mumbai City FC 1-0 at half time in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim on Wednesday. Vicente Gomez headed Kerala Blasters into the lead in the 27th minute.
Kibu Vicuna lined up Kerala Blasters in a 4-4-1-1 formation while Sergio Lobera deployed Mumbai in a 4-2-3-1. Both teams tried to take the game to the opposition.
The first real chance fell to Adam Le Fondre in the 11th minute but the striker fired just wide of the far post. Bakary Kone forced Amrinder Singh into a fingertip save just two minutes later.
Adam Le Fondre wasted another opportunity in the 15th minute, after a clever Hugo Boumous cross found him unmarked inside the penalty box. Rahul KP could have given Kerala Blasters the lead in the 25th minute but the forward failed to make decent contact with the ball and Amrinder Singh saved the shot.
Kerala took the lead just 27 minutes later through Vicente Gomez. Sahal Abdul Samad took a corner and crossed it towards Vicente Gomez in front of goal. Gomez headed it inside the net with aplomb. Had the midfielder missed the ball, Bakary Kone was right behind to head the ball in.
Amrinder Singh kept the score line 1-0 with a brilliant save in the 29th minute. Jordan Murray was set free on the right. He smashed it across the goal and the ball was heading into the goal but Amrinder dived to his right and got a hand to it. The ball hit the post and came out only to be cleared away.

Terrible finishing let Mumbai down but excellent saves from Amrinder Singh kept them in the game. Kerala needs to keep the Islanders at bay.
