There were no goals at half time in the Indian Super League (ISL) match between Bengaluru FC and Hyderabad FC at the Fatorda Stadium on Saturday.
The Blues were eager to take all three points after squandering a 2-0 lead against Goa to share the spoils in their opening fixture of the season. Meanwhile, Hyderabad were looking to build on the 1-0 win against Odisha.
Carles Cuadrat lined up Bengaluru in a 3-4-3 formation while Manuel Marquez deployed Hyderabad in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Hyderabad got the better start. They were keeping the ball well and passing it around while Bengaluru looked like they missed the warm-up session.
The first yellow card of the game was awarded to Erik Paartalu for a tackle on Halicharan Narzary in the 23rd minute. The Hyderabad winger skipped past a couple of Bengaluru defenders, which sparked Erik Paartalu into evasive action and slid in to a challenge.
The first real chance of the game fell to Aridane Santana in the 24th minute. Hyderabad got a free kick on the left side. Lluis Sastre launched it deep into the Bengaluru penalty box and it fell to Aridane Santana. The striker’s solid header on goal was pushed away by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. It was a big chance and Aridane Santana should have given Hyderabad the lead.

Hyderabad were forced to make a change in the 35th minute as Joel Chianese went off injured. On came Mohammed Yasir.
It was a cagey affair with both teams keeping remaining disciplined.
