Construction works began in 2014.
3000 acres of land was levelled for the airport which was the largest land levelling process ever in India.
20 small aircraft and 14 larger aircraft like Boeing B-77 can be parked.
Terminal has an area of 97,000 sq. m.
The facilities for domestic and international passengers have been arranged in the same terminal.
Three arrival baggage belts arranged.
Facilities for controlling the rush of domestic and international passengers.
There are 48 check-in counters and two self-baggage drop counters.
6 aerobridges are available.
Runway has a width of 45 metres and length of 3050 metres. This will be extended to 4000 metres in future.
With this, Kannur international airport will be the largest airport in south India.
