Kochi: Health Minister K K Shailaja said that there was no need for concern over the second Nipah outbreak in Kerala. She added that inspection by experts to find out the source of the virus has begun.
The samples of two persons, who had contact with the Nipah patient came out negative. Thus, the samples of eight persons, who were listed in the table of ‘close contacts’ with Nipah patient were also confirmed negative.
However, samples of blood and body fluids of the Nipah patient will be tested again by the expert team from Pune in the special lab arranged at Kalamassery Medical College. The test will be conducted to confirm if the virus infection has been completely cured. The result is likely to be available by Saturday afternoon.
Hospital officials reported that the health condition of the patient has improved. His condition is satisfying, except the regular reappearing symptoms of fever.
Moreover, the sample sent from Kozhikode Medical College to Alappuzha Virology Lab also came out negative.
