Kochi: Health officials announced that the Nipah patient who was under treatment at the Kalamassery Medical College has no fever for the last 48 hours. It is a hint of improving health conditions, said officials.
K Muhammed Y Safirulla, District Collector, said that improvement in patient’s health has been reported and he can walk without any help. He can eat and sleep now, added the Collector.
A 27-year-old woman who had close contacts with the patient was admitted to the isolation ward in Alappuzha Medical College after she suffered fever. She works as nurse in a private hospital in Kochi and was taken to the hospital from her house in an ambulance on Tuesday afternoon.
Blood tests conducted on seven patients admitted in isolation ward at the Kalamassery Medical College were proved negative. Health conditions of these patients are satisfactory. For other ailment-related treatments, one of them was shifted to ward and another patient was admitted in ICU.
Nipah virus wasn’t found in the five samples tested in Ernakulam Medical College the other day. 10 more samples will be tested. 329 people were found to have had close contacts with the Nipah patient. Among them, 52 are monitored critically.
Search to find the source of Nipah is continuing. Samples from 45 bats were collected from Aluva palace. Samples will be collected from Paravoor area on Wednesday.
