Health sector fully equipped to fight Nipah; No room for fear, says CM
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that the government and the health department is fully equipped to resist Nipah virus attack. The chief minister updated a Facebook post in this regard.
When Nipah outbreak occurred in Kozhikode, Keralites stood together and managed to drive it away. Similarly, we can fight it this time also, the chief minister said in the Facebook post. Nobody should attempt to spread fear by circulating fake messages. Those who spread such messages through social media will have to face strict legal action, he added.
"Nipah infection has been confirmed in one person who is undergoing treatment for fever. The news of confirmation should not be a reason for panic. Our health network is ready to rise up to the challenge. Under the supervision of the Health Minister, all necessary preparations have been done. Contact tracing, tracking down of those who have interacted with the infected person, have also been done.
We request everyone to follow the instructions of the Health department. Stringent action will be taken against those who spread misinformation. We are in constant contact with the Union ministry for Health. A team of experts have arrived in Kochi. Their inputs will also inform the efforts against Nipah outbreak. Together, we overcame the battle against Nipah in 2018. In this battle also, we are going to prevail." he said in the Facebook post.
