Rajasthan Royals sacked its social media team for 'mocking' Sanju V Samson, the team captain.

"In light of today's events, we will be making changes to our approach and team on social media. Everything is well within the squad ahead of the first game as the boys prepare for SRH. The management will revisit our overall digital strategy and appoint a new team in due course. We realise that it is the IPL season and fans want the account to post updates regularly. We will find temporary solutions in the interim," the management said in a statement.

The social media managers of the IPL teams are active in exploring various ideas on the platforms to engage with the fans and the audience. One such attempt of the RR team had gone terribly wrong when the captain himself expressed his dissatisfaction. The RR posted a photo of Sanju with decorations. He reacted to the photo by saying "Its ok for friends to do all this but teams should be professional."

It forced the company to sack the social media managers. A new group will soon take over the position, the team management said.

Soon after the announcement, a five-minute video was shared on the official handle saying "For one last time, we love you @IamSanjuSamson." It contains reactions of the players to the sacking of the social media team and their 'adieu'.
