Youth travels on bicycle in search of historical monuments, sells lottery to meet expense
Ambalappuzha: Perumbavur native Suraj Raju (22) is on a mission to travel on bicycle to visit historical monuments and other major landmarks. He wants to gain knowledge through travelling and write a book on his experiences. To meet the expenses of the journey, he is selling lottery tickets.
Suraj started his journey on last Friday. He covers 32 kilometres per hour on his bicycle. On the first day, he visited Arthunkal church, beach, Pathiramanal island, Punnamada lake and Raja Kesavadas memorial. He also travelled to Kuttanad and noted his experiences in the diary.
On the first day, he stayed in a tent on the terrace of an Arthunkal native whom he befriended during the journey. He spent rest of the days in petrol pumps. On Tuesday, he reached Ambalappuzha and he will proceed to Kollam from there. He is also sharing the visuals of the places he visited through his YouTube channel.
Suraj was brought up by his mother Sunitha as his father abandoned them in his childhood. Sunitha engages in manual labour to make the ends meet. Suraj’s brother Swaroop is an ITC student. Suraj had enrolled for BCom course at St Kuriakose College in Kuruppampadi. However, he could not continue the course due to his fondness for travel.
