Worms found in milk bought for distribution in school
Shoranur: Worms were found in Milma milk packets bought for distributing among school students. The worms were spotted in the milk packets brought to Kavalappara AUP School. In total, 48 milk packets were brought for distribution and the worms were found in six packets among them.
Milk distribution is part of the midday meal programme in the school. After detecting worms, the milk distribution was suspended. Later, P. Dinesh, the north zone coordinator of midday meal scheme, arrived the school for inspection.
Milma Assistant Manager Arun said that the worms might have entered the milk from vessels used in the school. They added that worms are not likely to be found in a single packet.
Municipality chairperson V. Vimala and vice chairperson R. Sunu visited the school after the incident. A detailed inspection will be carried out as per the direction of the district education officer. Complaints have been lodged with District Food Safety Officer and Noon Meal Officer.
