Woman who visited husband in jail elopes with another prisoner
Chirayinkeezhu (Thiruvananthapuram): In a bizarre incident, a woman who regularly visited her husband in jail happened to fall in love with another prisoner and finally eloped with the lover when he was released.
The Kadakkavoor native woman’s husband was imprisoned in Poojapura Central Prison in connection with a ganja trade case. As she visited him frequently, husband introduced to her his friend, a Poonthura native who was imprisoned in connection with a mobile phone snatching case.
After the man was released from jail, he regularly contacted the woman over phone and started a relationship. But the woman’s husband was still in prison. Finally, both of them eloped along with the woman’s children.
The incident came to light after the woman’s mother lodged a police complaint pointing out that her daughter and grandchildren are missing. The police conducted an investigation and spotted the woman and children with the man at Palakkad railway station.
They kept travelling from Ernakulam to Coimbatore and Palakkad in order to avoid being traced. The police spotted them after checking mobile tower location. Later, she was produced before Varkala court. As the court directed, the woman’s one-year-old baby was sent with her and the elder girl was sent with the woman’s mother.
