Woman crosses TN border to Kerala lying about mother's death, ends up in quarantine
Vadakkencherry (Palakkad): A woman managed to reach her home here from Pollachi in Tamil Nadu during the lockdown lying to the health workers that her mother had passed away. Though she planned the idea like in movies, it was messed up in the climax. Following this, the woman and the man who dropped her in bike were quarantined. The incident took place on Saturday at 6 in the morning.
The woman reached Govindapuram border and requested the authorities that her mother passed away and that she wanted to go home. The health workers on the border contacted the health workers in Vadakkencherry to inquire about the incident. They called the Asha worker in the woman's area. The Asha worker told them that it was true. With this, the woman was allowed to continue travelling. She reached home by 7.30 am.
Later, the Asha worker contacted the health workers in Vadakkencherry by 10 am and told them the woman's mother was not dead. Following this, they questioned the Asha worker. She said that the woman called her by 5 in the morning and told that she is coming home as her mother died. The health workers contacted the Asha worker by 6 am. As the woman called her before this, she thought it was true.
When the Asha worker's husband visited the woman's house by 10 am, they found that the woman's mother was not dead. Following the incident, health department officials and police questioned the woman who came from Pollachi and found out that the Asha worker was her relative.
Also it was found that the woman travelled in a two wheeler from Pollachi to the border and then continued journey with another man hailing from Vadakkencherry. With this, both were quarantined in district hospital.
