Weddings too become protest centres for CAA, NRC
Kannur: The protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is gaining momentum across the country. From college campuses, the protest came down to the streets and now it has spread to wedding altars as well. The protest was evident in all three weddings that took place yesterday at Thalasserry in Kannur.
The wedding of DYFI Dharmadam treasurer A Shibin and Kolacherry area committee member Harsha saw the bride and the groom displaying placards against NRC and CAA.
The story was the same in the case of Sanoop and Athira, who got married at Kakkad in Kannur yesterday. Athira is a former ‘Balasangham’ area committee member.
Prasanth Muthu and Vismaya are another couple who used their wedding stage as a platform to make their political statement. Both Prasanth and Vismaya are DYFI Thalasserry area committee members. The bride and the groom protested by raising slogans and placards against CAA and NRC.
Pictures of these unique protests are already trending on social media.
