Arimbur (Thrissur): For over a month, the people of Kaippilly were spending sleepless nights fearing a leopard that was wandering in the area. Finally, they are able to let out a sigh of relief as the animal that was killing their chicken was not a leopard but only a wild cat.
The wild cat was found injured near Kaippilly health centre on Sunday. Earlier, the locals had found feathers of chicken and cranes from the village premises and also traced footprints of an animal like leopard. With this, the people were fearing that a leopard had been wandering in the area.
Later, the forest officials came from Punnamparambu forest station and took the injured wild cat with them. The animal will be provided treatment and later released in the forest. The locals were relieved to know that the animal was not leopard.
