Two cups of tea, four porottas, parking fee – Bill amount Rs 357!
Thodupuzha: A DYFI worker, who visited the police canteen following a WhatsApp message by the police, had to pay Rs 357 after having 4 porottas and two cups of tea. The amount includes a fine for illegal parking in the police station compound.
The incident took place on Tuesday. DYFI Manakkad area secretary Pramod Babu and his friend went to Thodupuzha police station after they read a WhatsApp message which told that quality food is available in the canteen for affordable rate. But when they were about to leave after having tea, a police officer asked them to meet Circle Inspector N. G. Sreemon.
The CI directed Pramod to pay a fine of Rs 300 for illegal parking of vehicle in the station compound. People came to know about the incident when Pramod responded through Facebook after remitting the fine. He said that there was no sign board saying no parking. He informed that he has lodged a complaint with the chief minister and the police control authority.
Meanwhile, CI Sreemon said that he only fined the persons for illegal parking inside the compound, and that the action was taken by other police officers in the station.
