Two canines retire from Customs squad after 9 year of service
Kochi: Two canines, Alexa and Cemna, that were part of Customs squad retired here on Friday. Both were involved in sniffing baggages for identifying the presence of narcotic drugs. These specially trained canines have been part of the dog squad for nine years.
The farewell event was held at Kochi airport. Customs commissioner Muhammad Yosuf, airport director ACK Nair, CISF deputy commandant AJ Prem and CIAL general manager Dinesh Kumar were present.
Among the two, Cemna has helped the customs to bust many cases. For the service, the dog had received three-star recognition while Alexa received one-star. As they retired, the caretakers themselves have taken up them. During the service they were staying in a special air-conditioned kennel in the airport itself.
