Mahouts trying to make the tusker get onto the lorry

Kottiyam (Kollam): An elephant that was brought for the procession in temple, got crossed with the mahouts on the middle of a bridge across the backwater resulting in traffic disruption. The second mahout was injured amidst the attempt to tame the elephant.

The tusker named Sooryanarayanan under the ownership of Paravoor Kunjaruvila, was angry with its mahouts while crossing the Thanni bridge. The incident took place by 7.30 am on Monday. The elephant was brought for the festival at Mayyanadu Valiyavila Madan Kshetram.

The tusker stopped following the instructions of the mahout and stood still on the middle of the road. Crowd formed near the bridge and traffic was disrupted. Police, elephant squad and more mahouts arrived at the spot and after hours of effort, they locked up the elephant using capture belt. Later the tusker was shifted in a lorry.
