Traveller dies of lightning strike at Kudajadri within days of posting about death on FB
Mangaluru: “We don’t need to live for 100 years, 35 years is enough. Only five years is left… want to serve people based on Sanatana Dharma… Want to return after doing Thouba,” Jamsheer hailing from Perumanna in Kozhikode wrote these lines on his Facebook timeline a few days before losing his life in a lighting strike. His words came true on top of the Kudajadri Hills which was his favourite destination.
A photographer, he loved adventure travels with his friends. He used to share his travel experiences through his Facebook profile Jamsheer Karimbanakal Edakadan. When he was talking to a friend over phone on top of the Kudajadri Hills, he was struck by lightning on Saturday evening.
Jamsheer had gone to ascend the Sarvajna Peetham on the hills with his friends. He died instantly after the lightning strike. The companions had to struggle to take the body down the hills. Kollur Beena Residency owner C. C. Premachandran and friends helped to bring the body down.
Police handed over the body to his relatives after inquest. The body was brought to Kozhikode by Wednesday evening and last rites conducted. Jamsheer is son of Perumanna native Imbichi Bava and Salma.
Situated at an altitude of 1343 metres from the sea level, people are often struck by lightning on top of Kudajadri Hills. Another Malayali youth had died of lightning strike last year. Two others were injured in the mishap.
