Tiger trapped in Wayanad brought to Safari Park in Neyyar Dam
Kattakkada (Thiruvananthapuram): A tiger that entered the human inhabitated area in Pulpally of Wayanad and was later trapped by the forest department, was brought to Neyyar Dam. The 9-year-old female tiger was taken to Neyyar dam in a special vehicle. It was later shifted to a cage in the Lion Safari Park of the forest department.
The tiger is suffering from lung disease and was exhausted from the long travel. But it is healthy, said Assistant Wildlife Warden G Sandeep Kumar. The tiger was scaring the public in Cheeyambam colony and premises in Pulpally. It was trapped in a snare set up by the forest officials two days ago.
Forest officers from Wayanad and veterinary doctors also accompanied the tiger during the journey from Wayanad. There are two tigers in the Safari park. Another 10-year-old female tiger caught from Bathery in Wayanad in January 2019 also is protected in the dam.
