Thrissur native turns guardian for migrant worker injured in accident
Thrissur: Vikraman, a farmer, has become the epitome of humanity and kindness by helping a migrant worker who met with an accident. He has been taking care of Jharkhand native Arun (23) who suffered severe burns all over his body from a firecracker accident.
Arun is at Vikraman’s house for the past two months. Vikraman is giving medicine and food to this migrant worker and takes care like his family member.
Vikraman, a native of Kaiparambu here, met construction site worker Arun for the first time on New Year eve. During that night, Vikraman heard the sound of firecrackers near his house. Within a few minutes, some people knocked on his door.
When he opened the door, he found some migrant workers who arrived there seeking help. They told him that their friend got injured from the firecrackers. When Vikraman rushed to the spot, he found Arun’s palm blown off in the accident. Later, Arun got admitted to Thrissur medical college.
But Arun’s friends and sponsor refused to take responsibility. He had undergone plastic surgery and was further treated at the medical college for a month. During this period, Vikraman helped him and arranged a person to take care of him. He also settled the bills of Arun at the hospital.
After getting discharged from medical college, Vikraman took Arun to his house. He is also taking the migrant worker to the hospital for weekly medical checkup. Arun wants to return home once he recovers from the injuries.
Though his parents are not alive, his brothers and sister are settled in their native place.
“I don’t have their phone number now. Their contact numbers were stored on my phone. But it was also destroyed in the firecracker mishap,” said Arun.
Arun has also lost his ID proof. As his friends vacated their room, Arun lost all his documents.
Vikraman has promised him that he will be taken care of until he becomes fit to move to Jharkhand.
