This septuagenarian is all set to cast his first vote
Venjaramoodu: 74-year-old Murugesan, is all set to cast his maiden vote in the upcoming local body elections.
By the time he entered the legal age for casting vote, he migrated abroad for job. Every time he comes home, he couldn’t vote in any of the elections. Either the election would be over or his name won’t be there in the voters list and other times he couldn’t get leave for election.
Once, he had to return to his job just two days before the Assembly elections. In another case, he arrived home the next day of the elections.
He was working as foreman in a company in Dubai.
He was slated to miss the local body elections. However, the Covid pandemic allowed him to come home on July 19, around the same time when election commission notified to add names to the voters list.
After successfully adding his name, Murugesan is a voter at booth number 1 of Manikyamangalam in Nellanad panchayat.
